When is the label needed?

Amazon’s new requirement applies to photorealistic AI-generated fictional people in product listings and A+ content. Before uploading affected images or videos, add contains-synthetic-performer to the XMP dc:subject field so the platform can show a disclosure to customers where applicable.

Needed: AI created a photorealistic person

The person was not filmed but looks real, and the asset will be used in a product listing, A+ content, or related advertising.

Usually not needed: AI only edited or no real-looking person appears

Retouching real people, scenes without people, obvious animation, and expressive film or game characters are usually outside this rule.
